4. Terminal 1A @Kempegowda International Airport (Bengaluru)

The name was changed to Kempegowda International Airport with the opening of a new terminal, T1A, where facilities, interiors and exteriors mirror Karnataka’s rich culture and vibrant colours of the Garden City, Bangalore. T1A will increase the number of check-in counters from 53 to 86, immigration counters from 18 to 24, and baggage reclaim belts from 9 to 13. That’s accommodating a lot of extra people.

3. Terminal 1 @Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad)

Hyderabad Airport is a new airport that was opened in mid-March 2008. It’s operated by a private company and handles around 7 million passengers a year. The airport is excellent with world class facilities, including ‘in line’ baggage screening machines, plenty of check-in and immigration counters to prevent delays, and good crowd control.

It has been ranked as the second best in the 5-15 million category, after only the Nagoya airport in Japan and features as one of the best Indian airports in the world rankings for the year 2013 bySkytrax. In our list, we place it at the second runners’ up spot.

And Best Airport Terminal in India for the year 2014 is…

MUMBAI!

1. Terminal 2 @Chhatrapati Shivaj International Airport (Mumbai)

With its glass façade, golden-colored entryways, wood-paneled ceilings and walls covered in the works of over 1,000 ancient and modern Indian artists, Mumbai’s new international airport terminal feels much more like a luxury hotel or a gallery than a port of embarkation.
For sure, you still have to clear security and line up at immigration, but once that’s done you can wander its halls and use up the time before departure admiring the art displayed on an 18 meter high wall that runs through the terminal for three kilometers.

Unlike other Indian airports, security checks take place before immigration at T2 – not after. This will enable passengers to place items that fail the security check into their check-in baggage. The roof of T2 is also unique; it has been inspired by dancing white peacocks.
