AIR PEGASUS LAUNCHING SOON

Air Pegasus to touch southern skies, start services this month

CHENNAI: Another low-cost regional airline will soon fly the southern skies. Air Pegasus, which received air operator's permit last year, plans to start services from its Bengaluru base to Thiruvananthapuram, Hubli and Chennai by mid-February.

"We are planning to start services between February 15 and 20 and booking is likely to begin a week before the launch date. The first flight will be from Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram. We will have a fleet of three ATR aircraft. The first aircraft has already arrived. We are planning a 'proving flight' next week as per DGCA specifications," said managing director Shyson Thomas.

Fares are expected to be 700-1,000 lower than competitors. A 'proving flight' is to check if a new airline complies with operations, ground-handling and other procedures and facilities.

In the current schedule, the first aircraft will be used to fly Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru, Bengaluru-Hubli-Bengaluru, Bengaluru-Chennai, Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai and back to Bengaluru.

Chennai will be the second hub after Bengaluru. "We will operate services from Chennai to Tuticorin, Rajahmundry, Hyderabad and Kochi when the next two planes arrive by March. All formalities to acquire the planes have been completed," he added.

Air Costa, a Hyderabad-based regional carrier, which received licence for regional airline along with Air Pegasus two years ago, has started flying on national routes and also connects Chennai with Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. A Chennai-based Premier Air has also received license to operate as regional carrier.

Regional carriers are allowed to connect airports in a region and fly one or two national routes.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT - AVIATION'S MOST WANTED

FLIGHT ATTENDANT - AVIATION'S MOST WANTED
With the aviation industry growing there are lot of demands of Flight AttendantsFor instance, Emirates has been reported to receive over 15 000 cabin crew job applications per month. At the same time, however, Air India has recently cancelled or temporarily withdrawn as many as 12 flights from its network due to shortage of cabin crew.

Since the demand for cabin crew depends highly on the demand for air travel, currently domestic and international carriers all over the world are stepping up their recruitment to cater to the expected growth. Partly this has to do with airlines adding more capacity and switching to larger aircraft. After all, it takes from 3 to 10 cabin crews to fully serve one aircraft, while such giants as A380 require up to 24 flight attendants per flight.

“Becoming a flight attendant is more than just a job for many people. It’s a dream they have harboured for a long time. And while it may bring about some challenges, it certainly is very glamorous and exciting, as it offers life experiences that you will never forget.

To become the part of this rewarding career of Air Hostess - Cabin Crew, we offer short term course of Cabin Crew with 100% Job Assurance.

AIR INDIA NEWS

Government directs Air India,

to hire

800 cabin crew

NEW DELHI: Aviation secretary

V Somasundaran has

directed Air India to

immediately hire 800 cabin

crew members. The directive

comes as AI has been facing

serious flight delays caused, among other

reasons, by a crippling cabin crew shortage.

"The secretary recently directed us to start

hiring, cabin crew. We will now follow the IT

industry example where we will have an ample

number of air hostesses, all of whom may not

fly at the same time. They would be benched

like

the IT industry and called in to fly when

needed. The cost of flight delays due to a

shortage of cabin crew is way higher than the

expenditure incurred on hiring more," a senior

AI official said.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON PLANE

Why we have to turn electronic devices off on planes??

According to regulations, which are pretty uniform around the
world, the use of portable electronic devices is not allowed below
around 3,000m (10,000ft), even in "flight mode” which stops
the transmission of signals. Above this height devices like
laptops
and music players can be used, but phones must remain off.
These rules are important, we are told, to avoid potentially
dangerous interference between signals from these devices and
sensitive onboard electronic systems. The fear of interference
comes from the fact that gadgets connect to the internet or to
mobile phone networks using radio waves. It's not just an issue
with mobile phones. Kindles, iPods, laptops, handheld gaming
consoles – they all emit radio waves. If these are at frequencies
close to those of the avionics, signals and readings could be
corrupted. This could affect systems such as radar,
communications and collision avoidance technology, and the
problem is potentially magnified if gadgets are damaged and
start emitting stronger radio waves than they should, or if
signals from multiple devices combine. In the competitive world
of aviation, some airlines such as Virgin Atlantic and Delta
Airlines have started advertising the use of technologies that
allow greater use of mobile devices on flights.
 AeroMobile chief executive Kevin Rogers,
enables the use of mobiles “as a roaming service just like when
you go to a foreign country, except that in a foreign country you
don’t need a satellite link.” Some airlines are now starting to fit
AeroMobile equipment during production.
These systems allow you to use your phone while at cruise
altitude, but not during take-off and landing.
