Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's fourth international airport, at Kannur, that is expected to serve more than 1.5 million passengers annually, is set to begin trial flight operations in January and become fully operational by September 2018. With the opening of Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL), Kerala will be the only state in the country to have four international airports with the others at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. The Rs 1,892 crore-airport, located at Mattanur, over 2,000 acres, will be the fastest completed airport in the country, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's office said.
The airport has constructed a runway suitable for operating Code E aircraft, like Boeing B-777 and Airbus A-330. It will be extended later for operation of Code F aircraft, like Airbus A-380.
While the Kerala government has 35 per cent stake in KIAL, 25 per cent is by public sector undertakings, 10 per cent is with the Airports Authority of India and the remaining 30 per cent with cooperatives, banks and individual shareholders.
The first trial operation took place in February 2016 when an Indian Air Force aircraft landed for the first time on the airport and was received by then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

More Aviation jobs in upcoming year in allied units to come up at Andrapradesh

Vizianagaram: Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that establishing an airport only to transport the passengers will not benefit society.

Unless the allied industries like a repairing centre, maintenance of aircraft, other infrastructure were established here, only an airport cannot provide jobs to the youth, he added Participating in the various programmes held here on Tuesday, the Minister said that the aviation industry was spending thousands of crores of rupees annually on maintenance and repairing of aircraft.

However, he said that those facilities are only at Dubai, Singapore and Sri Lanka and the Indian aviation sector is forced to go those places for these services. Now we are thinking to provide those facilities and infrastructure at Bhogapuram airport and trying to gain more income and provide jobs for the youth of this area.
Even cargo aviation is also one of major job provider and such services to be started from here," the Minister added. He said that provision of increasing of Assembly seats was mentioned in AP State Bifurcation Bill and again we need not send any resolution to the union government.

Image result for vijayawada airport

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Airport located in Gannavaram with two terminal buildings and a runway is getting ready for international services. The expansion works of the runway are going on at a brisk pace. The Union government had decided to set up immigration office very soon at the airport and customs department has already trained 50 officers and staff to begin services at the airport.
Singapore and Dubai are the two cities to be connected with Vijayawada initially. Singapore airlines came forward to operate two flights every week.  Construction of the new sprawling building at a cost of Rs 162 crore changed the outlook of the airport.

The new terminal building was made of steel and glass structure with state-of-art passenger-friendly facilities such as baggage handling system, arrival baggage claim carousels, central air-conditioning, public address system, fire alarm system, flight information display system, CCTV for surveillance and check-in counters with common use terminal equipment.

However, this new terminal will be for domestic purposes because domestic passenger traffic has been increasing manifold in the last two years. The old terminal will be used for international services as passenger traffic will be very less initially. “The airport runway is being expanded from 2286x45 meters to 3360x45 metres at a cost of Rs 150 crore,” said a senior Airport official, who is supervising the development works.

Bigger aircraft can safely land on the runway after the expansion.  Moreover, passenger traffic will increase with the launch of international operations. Many NRIs belonging to capital region and neighbouring districts of West Godavari and Prakasam can use the airport for arrivals and departures.

With India's first seaplane ride, PM Modi sets vision for 106 waterways

Image result for sea plane

So far, you would have only seen them in Hollywood flicks - James Bond, in particular, is quite fond of them - and in glossy travel spreads of some luxury island resort. But now you'll get to see them live across the country. We're talking about seaplanes, which became an unlikely buzzword ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted "Tomorrow at 9:30 am I will travel from Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad to Dharoi Dam via sea plane." This would be the country's first-ever seaplane flight, not including the recent trials held in Mumbai.
The historic flight is now complete, grabbing the nation's attention along the way, but has also flagged off his ambition project to revolutionise transportation in India using these amphibious aircraft. "It is not possible to make airports everywhere", he said on Monday, adding that "We are working to develop waterways. We are going to start 106 waterways." This is a part of the Waterways Bill that was passed by the Parliament last year.
"Airports are in short supply in India. Lots of the growth in India is happening in small markets, but those small markets have little or no connectivity. The amphibian plane opens up a lot of areas, creates a lot of flexibility," SpiceJet Chairman Ajay Singh told Bloomberg earlier in October.

Woman passenger slapped Air India official four times at Delhi's IGI Airport - DETAILS and FIRST PICS here
As per a report in The Times of India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has identified seven acres of land at Sikandarpur village adjacent to the Indian Air Force's Hindon air base in Ghaziabad.

This would mean that the National Capital Region would get a second airport for commercial flights as soon as the base is ready for civilian flights.
The ministry is mulling to use Hindon air base for civilian flight operations in order to lessen the load on the IGIA till the time the Jewar international airport in Greater Noida becomes operational.
The Hindon air base currently houses IAF's heavy lift transport aircraft Globemaster.
The ministry has already got a go ahead from the Air Force to use the air base for civilian flights as part of the government's regional connectivity scheme (RCS).
While the civilian flights would use the existing runway, a separate gate and a seating area would be developed as part of the plans.
